"Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life."
- Mark Twain
September 27, 2012 opened the new season of the LA Philharmonic with style, music, and dance. Under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, the orchestra played selections from Adams, Stravinsky, Saint-Saēns, Tchaikovsky, and Bernstein with a mixture of ballet and modern dances complementing the music.
This was my first time in the beautiful Walt Disney Concert Hall and I am happy to say that it will not be my last. If you have not been there, you really should put it on your "to do" list. It is a jewel in the crown of Los Angeles, and the winter home of the LA Philharmonic.
This is Gustavo Dudamel's fourth season conducting the LA Philharmonic. His passion for music and the arts is contagious and he adds wit and his bubbly personality to the concerts.
There is a wide selection of concerts for every age and taste. The season is filled with classical, jazz, world music and pop and family concerts from Symphonies for Youth, Chamber Music, Zubin Mehta guest conducting, Where the Wild Things Are, Broadway music and classical favorites. This is a great way to introduce your kids to the world of music, and for those who already enjoy great music, concerts at the Walt Disney Concert Hall are a must.
