On Saturday, March 31, 2012, the annual Run for Education will be hosted at El Segundo High School. This is the twentieth year that the 5K Run/Walk will be held. Last year over 1,500 people participated and raised $35,000 for El Segundo Public Schools, making this the largest PTA fundraiser in the city.

Children in fifth grade and under can join in a Kids' Fun Run around Library Park. All children who participate will receive a T-shirt and a prize donated by Mattel. Medals will be given to participants in the adult 5K Run/Walk.

Race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the Run/Walk begins at 8:00 a.m. This is a competitive, timed race through the hilly streets of El Segundo. Mile markers will be in place and water stations will be set up along the course.

The Kids' Fun Run begins at 9:15 a.m.
