In the Good Luck Charlie Christmas movie, the Duncan family (Amy, Bob, PJ, Teddy, Gabe and Charlie) revealed they are going to be expanding. Yes, a new baby Duncan will be arriving in their third season which will premiere Spring 2012. This means Charlie will no longer be the baby. She will be entering her mischievous years and be learning how to be a big sister, with the help of her own sister Teddy. I was able to sit down with some of the cast and executives to discuss the new baby and whether Leigh-Allyn Baker is pregnant in real life.
Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide, said, "There's no greater excitement than the arrival of a new baby in the house and we are eager for our viewers to share in the relatable anticipation of a baby girl or baby boy joining the Duncan family they've come to know and love."
In a phone interview with me, Leigh-Allyn Baker who plays Amy Duncan, the matriarch of the house, said, "I know that Disney's main reason was to expand our family and help the show grow. That was their motivation for giving the Duncans another baby. I would say that the one thing that's certain about the situation is that Teddy's going to have a lot of good lessons to teach Charlie about being a big sister."

Leigh-Allyn talked about her character in Good Luck Charlie who is always looking to get into show business and has been in some zany scenes which are similar to the antics Lucille Ball portrayed in her famous I Love Lucy sitcom. "We've got Amy Duncan doing some really fun, crazy stuff this year." She added, "Believe you me, I have pitched a big story about that (show business) and we'll see what happens." Leigh-Allyn has some specific ideas about Amy Duncan. "I really want her to really make it - to be discovered." Baker claimed with pride, "I'd love it if she could look back and say, 'Ha, see you all thought I was crazy and I told you I had it.'"

And in case you are wondering if Leigh-Allyn is pregnant in real life, she confirmed to me that she is not. "No. I'm not pregnant in real life. I have to confess it would be the ideal scenario and we've talked about it but I really, really love having one child." Her son is about five months younger than Mia, aka Charlie.

So with the third season of the popular family sitcom bringing plenty of changes to the Duncan household, all I can say is, "Good luck, Charlie." (Like you didn't see that coming!)
