Halloween Costume Ideas for Your Child

Halloween Costume Ideas for Your Child

Baby's first Halloween? No problem! Tom Arma has exactly the kind of baby costumes you need to make it a very memorable holiday for you and your little one. Tom's wife, Julie, and she had some wonderful little tidbits to share.

With such a wide variety of costumes to choose from, you might think it would be hard to find the right one for your baby. According to Julie, "It is all about having fun and choosing a costume that the children like. Everyone has their favorite animal; even the very little ones can point out which one they like best."

A particular favorite is Tom's Please Save the Animals Series(TM), which he dedicates "to all the little ones everywhere...may they make the world a better place." He created this series of babies dressed in animal outfits to express his ecological concerns, and it became a huge success. All of his Halloween costumes come with "critter Facts" from the National Wildlife Federation(R), helping children with conservation awareness while they enjoy the holiday.

Some wonderful ways to get your little one in tune with the animal or theme they are representing this Halloween, read books to them about the subject, play with them and pretend to make animal sounds. The NWF(R) website also has great ideas for children www.nwf.org

Tom began his career as the youngest staff photographer of the New York Daily News. After several years (and numerous awards), he transferred to the magazine section of the paper, where he photographed the most famous stars of the time, including Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman, Jack Nicholson, and Michael Caine, to name a few who appeared on his covers.

After opening his own studio, he concentrated on freelance work for major magazines. Then, in 1972, he began his work with babies. Tom "was hooked" and fell in love with what he called "the totally uninhibited beauty of the child." His "Signature Collection of heirloom quality costumes" has become enormously popular, And, he was the first to publish a book exclusively devoted to babies in costume, starting a very popular trend. To date, he's published over 47 books, has many products licensed worldwide, and has a traveling exhibit featuring sixty prints that travels the globe. Throughout everything, it is the high quality of hi artistry that continually garners him such accolades as "the Armani of the kiddy costume world" (Wall Street Journal) and "the most published baby photographer in the world" (The New York Times). Success has given Tom the means to give back to many charities. He is proud to support the efforts of the National Wildlife Federation(R).

Julie met Tom when, as a school librarian, she became interested in his first book, Animal Time. "We became friends," she said, "fell in love, married and have a wonderful daughter." Their six-year-old daughter, Violet, "loves all the babies and children". She reads Tom's books to them during photo shoots, and she and her friends "really enjoy dressing up in the costumes."
