Madagascar 3, Rise of the Guardians: DreamWorks Animation for 2012

DreamWorks Animation has two fun-filled films coming out in 2012: Madagascar 3 and Rise of the Guardians.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

The first film of 2012 from DreamWorks Animation is the third installment in the Madagascar franchise. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted takes the intrepid motley group of New York Zoo animals through Europe in their most adventurous and hysterical quest to return to New York City and their beloved home at the NY Zoo. Alex, Gloria, Marty, and Melman join a traveling circus in an attempt to evade a vicious animal catcher who is on their tracks. The gang's only desire is to return to the Big Apple. This escapade takes them to Roman, the Swiss Alps, Monte Carlo, and London as they comically search for a way home.

Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, and Chris Rock reprise their roles as the voices of Alex, Gloria, Melman, and Marty. Others lending their voices to this film include Sacha Baron Cohen, Frances McDormand, Cedric the Entertainer, and Brian Cranston.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted is currently scheduled to open June 8, 2012.

Rise of the Guardians

Rise of the Guardians is DreamWorks' holiday film. Don't confuse this with the movie about the owls! This is the story of the guardians we knew as children: The Easter Bunny, Santa, The Tooth Fairy, The Sandman, Jack Frost, and the Man in the Moon. These are they mythological characters of childhood and they all come together in this delightful and entertaining film.

When the evil Boogeyman plans to take over the world and the Guardians must join together to stop this dastardly plot. "If kids don't believe in the guardians, they cease to exist," said director Peter Ramsey about the characters of the screen and our childhoods. The Guardians must make sure kids continue to believe in them.

Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher, Alec Baldwin, and Jude Law provide the voice talents for Jack Frost, Bunnymund (The Easter Bunny), Tooth (The Tooth Fairy), North (Santa Claus who has a tattoo of "Naughty" and "Nice" on his forearms), and Pitch (the Boogeyman). There is no voice talent for Sandy (The Sandman) whom, I believe, is going to be the most beloved character of Rise of the Guardians.

The mantra, "If no one believes in you, you don't exist" is front and center in this story. As Chris Pine told the journalists at a special preview, "Imagination is powerful." He also said there is "something about the beauty of childhood that you shouldn't lose."

Peter Ramsey added that the scope, scale, and degree of sophistication in this film are going to surprise audiences. This movie will definitely appeal to all ages.

Rise of the Guardians is scheduled to be released November 21, 2012.
