When New York bachelor Bill Davis (Brian Keith) and British "Gentleman’s Gentleman" Mr. French (Sebastian Cabot) get an unexpected new member of the family, things get out of hand. Bill's brother and sister-in-law were killed in an accident and their three children have been separated and living with various relatives. But now Buffy (Anissa Jones) comes to live with her uncle, to the initial displeasure of Mr. French. She has her constant stuffed companion and best friend Mrs. Beasley with her. Buffy wins over their hearts and becomes part of the family, just in time for her twin Jody (Johnny Whitaker) to join them. Then their 15-year old sister Cissy (Kathy Garver) comes to live with them!
