Warm Springs (Not Rated)

This made for television movie looks at the life of Franklin Roosevelt in the years prior to his presidency. It tells the true story of his struggle with polio which affected him at 39 and left him without the use of his legs. With his political career seemingly behind him, he went to Warm Springs, Georgia to soak in the hot mineral water hoping that it was a cure for the disease. Miraculously, it did help him regain a bit of movement and it also made him feel optimistic about his future. It was there where he began a convalescing resort for others afflicted by the disease.  Kenneth Branagh stars as FDR and Cynthia Nixon plays his wife Eleanor in this intriguing and dramatic depiction of the life changing chapter in the life of Franklin Roosevelt. It is definitely an interesting story that shows the hardships and heartaches that polio brought to the lives of those afflicted and their families, but it is also an uplifting story at the same time.
