This newest addition to the Disney Fairies Franchise is an engrossing, mesmerizing, delightful story filled with stunning scenes and heartfelt characters. Secret of the Wings shows Tinker Bell's panache and rebellious side as she disobeys the rules and sneaks over the border to the Winter Woods, a place where no warm weather fairy is allowed. It is there she discovers she has a sister, Periwinkle, who was born of the same laugh. Director Peggy Holmes explained, "Tinker Bell and Periwinkle were separated at birth by the fate of the wind. Periwinkle's wisp, instead of going into the Pixie Dust Tree, blew into winter and landed there. It was just one of those moments of fate."

Neither one of them knew they had a sister until Tink's forbidden excursion. Now that they found each other, it is going to be difficult to keep them apart!

Telling the story of fraternal twins finding each other is part of what the filmmakers had in mind for this movie. Holmes added, about the story, "What we needed was to have the two worlds wanting to be together but the weather makes it impossible for them to do so. Creating a sister for Tinker Bell and thus extending the mythology to reveal that she has a sister, Periwinkle, a frost fairy who Tinker Bell wants to be with, made this a reality. Tink enters the Winter Woods because she feels an immediate connection. Their friendship starts a remarkable chain of events."

Tink devises a plan to bring her sister to the warm side by building a snow machine for Peri, but things go awry, of course, it's Tinker Bell after all, so the seemingly perfect plan puts the entire world of Pixie Hollow in danger. This brings together Queen Clarion and the leader of the Winter Woods, Lord Milori. Their past comes into play during this current crisis and the fate of all the fairies is at stake. By working together - the warm and cold fairies - they can save Pixie Hollow.

Watching Tink experience the wonders of the Winter Woods is endearing, almost as much as watching Peri experience the colors of the warm side of Pixie Hollow. There is no doubt Tink and Peri are sisters. They share many attributes, including mischievousness, and they do look quite a bit alike. Periwinkle is paler though. After all, she has spent her entire life in cold and snow.

John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer at Pixar/Disney Studios, said, "The world of Tinker Bell and her fairy friends from Pixie Hollow is such a rich and exciting one, and we've had a lot of fun exploring it and letting our imaginations run wild. In Secret of the Wings, Tinker Bell's curiosity and irrepressible spirit draw her deep into the mysterious Winter Woods, where she discovers something that is truly life changing."

Secret of the Wings is a wonderful film and definitely something the entire family will enjoy.  There are several options: a 4-disc Flitterrific Fairies Double Pack which includes Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy + Blu-ray 3D and a bonus adventure (Pixie Hollow Games), a single DVD, as well as a 2-disc Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack.

The Pixie Hollow Games bonus adventure was originally seen on the Disney Channel last year. It's filled with all the fun of Tink and the gang, along with the special message that "you can be much more than just a pretty face." It's a great message for all youngsters!

The bottom line about Disney's Secret of the Wings is that with all of the elements - the magnificent Snowy Owls, Tinker Bell's sister Periwinkle, and several new characters from the Winter Woods along with the familiar fairies we all know and love - it is truly one of the most enjoyable Fairy films to date.
