The Hub is a multi-platform collaboration between Discovery Communications and Hasbro, Inc., established with the intent of entertaining, educating, empowering and enlightening kids and families. Launching in October 2012, the Hub replaced Discovery Kids and now reaches more than 68 million U.S. households.
The new original series' joining the network's lineup are Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot (animated), Littlest Pet Shop (animated), Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters (animated), and Spooksville (live-action) based on the tween book series.
Besides these new original shows, the network has acquired the iconic television shows The Facts of Life, Mork & Mindy, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch.
"With the momentum of our successful first year, we're building a slate of programs for the 2012-'13 season that continues our strategy of presenting series based on well-known names and beloved properties in the kids and family entertainment space," said Ms. Loesch, President and CEO of The Hub.
"One of our advantages has always been the built-in strength and recognition of our programming. The success of that is evident in our large number of returning original series and in the exciting new original series. We're confident that this lineup will further define us as the entertainment destination for kids and their families."
The programs expected to debut on The Hub in 2012-2013 are:
Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot (Hub Original Series)
This new animated show brings viewers into the magical world of the Care Bears. The series coincides with the 30th anniversary of these popular little characters. This whimsical CGI series helps kids understand their feelings. Music, love, belly-badge powers and Care Bear hugs are front and center with this delightful group of furry fellows. Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot will premiere summer 2012.
Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters (Hub Original Series)
This is an animated action-fantasy show about Ray, a young hero with the ability to befriend fantastical creatures from a parallel dimension. Battling evil forces, Ray and his best friends join the mysterious Duel Masters to help ensure the survival of both worlds. This half-hour series premieres all 26 episodes starting this summer.
Littlest Pet Shop (Hub Original Series)
This animated half-hour comedy series focuses on Blythe, a fun-loving girl who takes cares of animals in a little pet shop. 26 all-new half-hour episodes of the series are expected to premiere in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Spooksville (Hub Original Series)
Based on the book series by Christopher Pike, this series follows a new kid who discovers he holds the key to a battle between good and evil in a small town with strange happenings. He also discovers his family is at the center of the mystery of Spooksville. This half-hour series is expected to premiere in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Returning Hub Original Series/Specials with new episodes are The Aquabats! Super Show!, Dan Vs., Family Game Night, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Pound Puppies, R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series, Secret Millionaires Club, Transformers Prime, and Transformers Rescue Bots.
