"Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life."
- Mark Twain
The Ritz Carlton Cancun has everything your family needs to unwind, relax, and reconnect. With only 365 rooms and an expansive 1,200-foot beach, you and your family can trust your vacation at Ritz Carlton Cancun will have the private and peaceful atmosphere you deserve.
The The Ritz Carlton Cancun, of course, meets all of the standards we expect from a Ritz Carlton, but what distinguishes this hotel from its sister resorts around the world is its almost relentless drive to provide a unique experience for its guests. The Culinary Center best exemplifies this impulse.
The Culinary Center teaches guests how to cook authentic Mexican, Italian, French, and Thai dishes in a striking, professional kitchen overlooking the Caribbean Sea. A fun, interactive experience for family, friends, and couples, Chef Rory Dunaway shares recipes and techniques to make a variety of delicious meals, desserts and specialty drinks.
New features and service upgrades clearly reflect how much the resort staff listens to their guests. The Casitas restaurant -- now the The Ritz Carlton Cancun's most popular dining experience -- started when guests began requesting private dining cabanas on the beach.
The The Ritz Carlton Cancun's management took notice and now offers 16 cabanas for guests to dine under the stars. As you take your sandals off before entering the cabana, you know you are in for something special. The seafood and grilled prime cuts are delectable, but the real treat is peering out into the Caribbean night and watching the turtles hit the beach to lay their eggs, a thrill for the kids.
Speaking of turtles, Director of Public Relations Laura Perez gave Los Angeles Family a sneak peak at the soon-to-be unveiled Turtles Club. Starting this summer, guests can sign up as a club member and receive a room call when the turtles appear on the beach. Interested guests can later meet the Ak-Kalan ("The Guardian of the Turtle") to view the infant turtles and help release them a few days later back into the ocean. Perez said this program was initially conceived with children in mind, but she has found that the parents are often the most excited about participating.
Of course, most of your time at the The Ritz Carlton Cancun will be spent at the beach and swimming pools. The hotel has several sculpted swimming pools and inviting white sand beaches to help you forget your troubles back in the real world. As you would expect, the wait staff is extremely attentive.
On the beach, the The Ritz Carlton Cancun offers cabanas and personal lounge chairs to rent. The chairs have a flag you can raise to let the server know your pińa colada is almost empty or to order the addictive Mexican burger for lunch. The swimming pools are equally charming, and the hotel offers a smaller pool for couples to lounge alone without their children or someone else's children splashing about.
The The Ritz Carlton Cancun's attention to both the needs of couples and families is probably the most important feature about the Ritz Carlton Cancun. It's definitely a balancing act, but the Ritz Carlton puts a lot of thought into getting it right.
The The Ritz Carlton Cancun offers three rooms specially designed for families with infants. The "Itzy, Bitzy, Ritz Kids Rooms" includes a safety-approved changing table, miniature hangers for children's clothes, and a telephone programmed to light up, not ring. The Ritz Carlton Cancun also has a kids' camp to provide activities, such as ceramics, treasure hunts, and the ever-popular pińata making, so Mom and Dad can have some time alone if needed.
There's probably no better place to reconnect with your spouse or significant other than the Kayanta Spa or the five-diamond Fantino restaurant. At the Kayanta Spa, guests can receive body treatments and massage therapies in the luxurious treatment rooms or schedule time in the secluded outdoor terraces. The spa also offers a 50-minute couples massage perfect for renewing your relationship.
After your treatment, you can spend as much time as you like in the herbal steam room, open air showers, and garden side Jacuzzi. Afterward, take your loved one to dinner at Fantino and splurge on the 5-course tasting menu featuring exquisite Mediterranean dishes.
The Ritz Carlton Cancun, in short, provides families and couples alike an opportunity to treat themselves and grow closer together. The hotel not only meets our high expectations for the perfect vacation, it has the innovative attractions, fine dining, and family activities to make a most memorable experience.
